Saturday August 16th we gathered again to share summer coming to an end. We honestly have the greatest neighborhood anyone could ask for! Everyone had a great time and we are already looking forward to next year (maybe in September when it isn't quite as hot)

Happy Birthday Gavin!!
He turned 5, and enjoyed everything about it. We had a countdown on July 1st because he knew it was July and could hardly stand waiting for his birthday. Every day he told us how many days until he was 5. He's a still our sweet little boy even though he's growing up. We had a fun day with friends and family!!

Gavin Update
Gavin is 4 years and 8 months now and had a HUGE growth spurt in the last month or so. He comes close to the top of mom's armpit...he's only 4 how does this happen. If we're lucky he'll get daddy's height!
Currently playing soccer and football, even though we're still seeing snow flurries. We haven't really decided what he likes best; he's hard to read and still sometimes uninterested all together. He loves to run fast so we think he's taking a liking to soccer...lots of running.
Gavin will be waiting one more year to start Kindergarten so the 2014-2015 school year he will attend transitional Kindergarten 3 days a week, full time.
We're looking forward to this summer and swim lessons and baseball!

The Stats
Lola's 6 month stats
Height 27.32" (86%) - taller than both brothers @ 6 months!!
Weight 16 lbs (37%)
By no means does this little girl seem like a 37 percent-er; she's growing like a weed and doing everything in her power to catch up to her big brothers. She loves to eat and is really great about trying new things. Pretty much whatever we cook, we just put in the food processor and she has the same thing: sausage and eggs for breakfast on this 6 month checkup day :)
Brother Gavin 6 months
Height 27" (68%)
Weight 19.25 lbs (77%)
Brother Liam 6 months
Height 26" (25%)
Weight 17.9 lbs (50%)

The Stats
A little more timely is the stats for Miss Lola. Speaking of growing, she's off the charts (well almost). She definitely holds the height record in the Hendricks Kids club. Who knows she may end up being the tallest of all of us (ok maybe not Jason). She is happy and healthy, we couldn't ask for anything more. She's holding her head up now and loves just watching the craziness (brothers) around her. She sits in her high chair at the dinner table and converses with the family, lots of goo goo ga ga talk. We all love it though. I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures to post soon as she's going to begin trying solid foods - whoa, big girl!
Lola's 4 month stats
Height = 26.5" - 98%
Weight = 13.5 lbs - 44%
Liam 4 month stats

The Stats
A little behind on blogging about our 2 year old, but we've been waiting for his official 2 year old pictures to get finished. Our little ray of sunshine (or not) is growing and starting to talk...a lot! He's got a temper on him when he doesn't get his way and he loves to argue with Gavin (Gavin argues right back). With all of those things put aside he is the sweetest, most loving, caring little boy you could ever meet. He adores Lola and is always wanting to cuddle and love on her. He uses his manners well and gives hugs, kisses, and high 5's to everyone he sees. He's 2, what can we say...sometimes they just have to test us!

Scrumptious Sundays
Fun preschool snacks. Gavin & Liam each took treat bags to their friends at school with a note telling them they were thankful for friends. These were all so easy and so fun to make!
ACORNS
Ingredients:
Chocolate Chips
Nutter Buter Bites
Hersey's Kisses
The bite size cookies and Hershey's kisses have almost the exact same quantity in each bag. Maybe a few leftover kisses to munch on while you assemble.
- Melt 1/2 of the chocolate chips to use as your glue.
- Dip the Hersey's kiss in the melted chocolate and stick to the Nutter Butter bite.
- Let cool.
- Add the chocolate chip to the top of the cookie; it helps if the melted chocolate has cooled a bit so it doesn't run off the side.
TURKEYS
Ingredients:
Reese's Mini Peanut Butter cups
Candy Corn
Whoppers
Double Stuff Oreo
White Frosting
(Black Frosting if you wan tot add the eyeballs)
- Open the Oreo, apply 6 candy corns to the stuffing. Add white frosting to reapply the cookie.
- Put a liberal amount of frosting on the bottom of the feathered Oreo, apply to a flat Oreo for the base. If it won't stay you need more frosting.
- Cut the Reese's so it will lie flat (this works best if they have been chilled in the fridge for a while)
- Use frosting to apply the Reese's and the Whopper for the head and body of the turkey
- Cut the remaining Candy Corns to make wings, a nose, and little turkey feet, apply with white frosting.
- Lastly you can use a combination of white and black frosting to create the eyes. I used a toothpick but wasn't super happy with the crazy eyes. I made another batch and left the eyes off, they were just as cute. You can also purchase candy eyes at a store like Michaels (or maybe use mini chocolate chips)
We put a Turkey and a few acorns in a clear cellophane bag and delivered to school just before Thanksgiving. Don't forget to make enough to share with the teachers and other staff! Everyone LOVED them!!
We already have our Christmas treats planned - reindeer pops coming soon!
