First day of 2015 school

A lot of firsts in the Hendricks house...

Liam...first day of being the BIG BROTHER at preschool.  Liam attends 2 full days a week.  On Tuesdays he gets one-on-one time with Grandma.

Lola...first day of Kids Day out.  She's attending one full day a week.  Didn't bat an eye, walked right in and started making friends and pleasing the teachers.

 Gavin...first day of Kindergarten at Cedar Creek Elementary.  I'm not sure there are any kids in America more excited than this guy to start school.  He lucked out and has some good buddies in his class.  We can't wait to see what great things this guy does in his first year.

The Stats

Gavin has been waiting for an eternity to turn 6.  He could hardly stand the excitement leading up to his LEGO birthday party.  He starts Kindergarten in the fall and is more than ready!

Rain, rain...come again!

Oh what fun!  Saturday night we had a big thunderstorm, lighting, thunder, and TONS OF RAIN!  The temperature outside was pretty warm, and mother nature was putting on quite a show.  We stood on the porch for a while, but it was just too tempting for the boys.  Even the little princess dabbled in the puddles a little bit, but she didn't like the rain drops.  By the end of the showers the boys were body surfing on the grass and driveway.  Boys will be boys.

The graduate

Preschool graduation may seem like an overrated event to the average adult, but to a 5 year old it's the most exciting day on in the universe!  Because...it's one day closer to starting Kindergarten.  Gavin is so extremely excited to go to big kid school next year, he can hardly wait.  It sure makes the transition easier for us!  We are so glad we decided to keep him in preschool one more year.  He has grown so much!

Here are his parting comments from his teachers Mrs. Schick and Mrs. Langstraat "Gavin you are such an amazing young man and it has been a blessing to be your teacher.  you have the academics but most important you are kind, caring and compassionate to all.  I am going to miss your jokes at lunch an your awesome hugs!  you are so ready for Kindergarten and as you go up, you will do great things!  Continue to read and practice writing numbers over the summer"

We're so proud of our G-man.  Can't wait to see what's in store for big kid school  Gavin starts kindergarten at Cedar Creek Elementary on August 13th.

The Stats

Little miss Lola is 19 months old and growing up way faster that we anticipated.  She's still our little petite thing, but tall like daddy.  She can count from 1-10, she has about 60% of the alphabet figured out, can recognize colors, animals, letters and all kinds of other things.  She's a Tom Boy when she wants to be, but also love to play dress up with mommy's jewelry and wear pretty dresses.

He's officially given up afternoon naps and is so proud of himself.  Absolutely ZERO interested in potty training, and believe me we've tried everything.  He has hippie blonde hair, that has darkened a little this winter, but we expect our little toe head back again this summer.  He is definitely creating his own personality and learning how to interact (good and bad) with adults.  He's a really great big brother to Lola, loves to love on her and take care of her.  When he's in the mood he's a good little brother and enjoys playing with Gavin too.

The Stats

Lola is now 15 months and definitely the leader of the pack when it comes to height!  She's so advance with her vocabulary too.  She will attempt to repeat just about anything you ask her to.  About 40% of the repeats sound familiar, the remainder are Lola Language, which we are trying to learn ourselves.  She has embraced sign language as the boys did and that definitely helps with the language frustrations.  Liam  and Lola are the best of buds because Gavin is at school 3 days a week.  Someone actually asked me if these two were twins.  She is so loving and sweet but definitely has a rough and tough side to her - all good things in a Hendricks girl :)

Thanksgiving Feast

Gavin's transitional kindergarten class dressed up as Indians and pilgrims and shared a wonderful thanksgiving feast.  They've been learning all about the food groups and were able to pick something to bring from one of the food groups (fruits/veggies/protein/etc.)  Gavin chose bananas and blueberries.

Breakfast with Santa

It was a whirlwind weekend that started Saturday morning being the first ones to arrive at breakfast with Santa.  Gavin and Jason had to leave for basketball, but not before Gavin had a chance to tell Santa his wish list.  Lola was not a Santa fan at all, maybe next year.  She did love the horses on the sleigh ride though.
